TOUR - BURNHAM - 2nd/5th May 2008

Tracy Boyce has sent an email out on Saturday 12th January concerning the organisation of the Tour. For those that may not have received/seen it, below is a transcript.

Quote:
"Dear All

Apologies for the lateness, finally some firm details of this year's End of Season Tour.

We have 1 team ONLY booked into the Burnham on Sea Festival run by Gullivers.

This year we have opted to make our own accommodation bookings, so it is vital that deposits are paid immediately!

We are negotiating with a hotel in Burnham which can provide rooms for up to 25 families and furnish us with a function room for our Awards night on Saturday 3rd May.

The maximum price for 1 person, per room, per night is £34 - this price will decrease, unfortunately, we cannot say by how much, until we confirm our numbers with the hotel.

Please complete attached form, indicating your numbers and which and how many nights hotel accommodation required, as soon as possible and return it, with a deposit of £30 per family, to Stuart, Ges or myself. As we are taking just 1 Team this year, places are limited, therefore, we are operating a first come first served basis. There will be a ballot, if over subscribed and a wait list, to deal with any cancellations.

Cheques payable to Worcs Mini/Juniors Wallabies.

Any queries, please contact me.

Best Regards
Tracy Boyce"
Unquote.

I understand that there was some confusion on the touchline on Sunday, as to whether this means it is 'first come, first served' or whether there will be a ballot amongst all those applying in the initial batch if there are more than 25 people - Stuart has confirmed that it is purely 'FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED' and NOT A BALLOT. Any issues, take it up with him.

FIXTURES 2007 / 2008

The new Fixtures list is now updated on the website. It will be amended as and when required, and updated to show squad allocations and results.

Parents are invited to submit match reports (in conjunction with the squad coaches) and photographs (please reduce in size before emailing them to me) for inclusion in the Reports Section.

BEST IN COUNTRY!

Worcester Rugby Club's Under 12's have completed yet another successful season. The A team have ended the year undefeated and winners of the North Midlands Cup, Kieran Bracken Trophy, Hinckley and Worcester Tournaments.

To complete this season off, the team were successful in winning a place to play at Twickenham on the 28th May as one of the preliminary matches to the England Saxons v Scotland B fixture.

To qualify, for this visit to the home of rugby, a squad of 16 players played 6 matches at the Nottingham Tournament. Played over the Easter weekend, knowing that a good performance would secure the trip of a lifetime to Twickenham, they won 5 matches and drew the other. The all round strength of the side was highlighted at Nottingham where they scored a total of 19 tries (spread out amongst 11 of the players). They qualified for Twickenham as one of the best four teams in the country, for the second year running.

On Monday 28th May they played the semi final against Newbury RFC with the resultant draw being sufficient to see them through to the final. In the final the Under 12's met their old adversaries Sandal RFC, having played them 6 times over the last 3 years and drawing every game! This year the outcome was different and a second half try from a set penalty move saw Bradley Pogson score the only try of the match to see Worcester crowned as the Best Team in the Country.

A great way to finish off the boys participation in Mini Rugby. The Under 12's A team (kindly sponsored by A.G.Shakespeare Ltd) have now gone 6 years without losing a match and haven't conceded a score against them in the last 2 seasons.

CALLUM & THE AIR AMBULANCE - 12.11.06

Those of you that were at the Club on the 12th November will have seen Callum shipped off in the Air Ambulance following a suspected neck injury gained during the Whippets match.

We are pleased to report that his parents have let us know that the injury is relatively minor, and after an overnight stay in Worcester hospital he was discharged, and has to wear a neck support for a couple of weeks, and if all is clear after that should be able to resume playing sports again. We wish him a speedy recovery.

His parents have sent us some pictures that show him being shipped off in the Air Ambulance - a short, but exciting journey by all accounts!
